Because Healing Begins at the Roots

Uncovering the past to nurture a future rooted in wholeness

Priscilla's Why

My name is Priscilla Rodriguez, and my story begins in the heart of a complex childhood. In the heart of my two neurodiverse sisters yup right in the middle, a position that gave me a unique lens into the world of difference, sensitivity, and the silent strength it takes to hold space for others. From a very young age, I learned to navigate the loud, often unspoken currents of my home one shaped by religious extremism, strict authority, and physical discipline. In our household, obedience was demanded, emotions were silenced, and love was often tangled with fear.

As my mother chose to leave her marriage and raise us on her own, I became her right hand witnessing her courage, exhaustion, and survival. But this also meant that I had to grow up quickly. I was often seen as the "rebellious" child, the one who questioned, challenged, and resisted. What many didn't see was that beneath that exterior lived a deep desire to understand, to care, and to heal.

I became a mother at a young age myself, raising my son while still trying to piece together the shattered parts of my own story. It was through those years as a single mom that I stepped into advocacy not just for myself, but for families like mine. I began walking alongside others navigating trauma, systemic barriers, and misunderstood behaviors. This work wasn't just a job; it was personal.

With over a decade of experience supporting families, I came to understand that our earliest experiences don’t just shape us—they live within us. They influence how we love, how we cope, how we show up in the world. When I learned how my own trauma and environment had carved paths in my nervous system and behavior, it changed everything. That knowledge became the cornerstone of my purpose.

I am also the author of Healing from Emotional Trauma Bonds, a 7-week guided journal inspired by my personal experience in a toxic relationship with a loved one who was enduring domestic violence. Through writing and reflection, I began to name patterns, reclaim parts of myself, and find clarity. This journal now serves as a healing tool for others who are navigating similar pain and seeking to break free from cycles of harm and confusion.

Today, as the founder of Family Consulting and Coaching, I bring lived experience, clinical expertise, and a culturally responsive, trauma-informed lens to the work I do with families, educators, mental health professionals, and communities. I specialize in early childhood trauma, attachment, and healing-centered engagement, offering training, therapeutic workshops, and reflective consultation to those who care for children and those who are healing their inner child.

I also carry with me the deep belief that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and with the community. It was the support of my community that lifted me through the hardest seasons, and it’s through collective healing that I now give back.

Whether I'm speaking at a summit, offering therapy to a young child, or helping a caregiver understand the “why” behind a behavior, I lead with empathy, integrity, and the unwavering truth that healing is possible—because I’ve lived it.
